Pso'Xja until coming to an avatar gate
|
Tenzen's path has no BC fights, but has two Pso'Xja dungeons and an
uncapped NM. In terms of difficulty, it it is right in the middle. Even
so, those dungeons aren't to be taken lightly.

This is the same ??? spot as is used in the Carbuncle quest.
Only one cutscene before fighting. When ready, hit a Teleport-Vazhl and
prepare for some more Pso'Xja dungeon crawling.
VERY VERY IMPORTANT: a new
recent quest has been added to this ??? spot. If you get a cutscene
about other avatars waking up or generally something totally unrelated
to what's going on in CoP, chances are you just activated the quest
"Waking the Beast." Check the ??? again to get the proper cutscene. In
fact, check it again regardless just to be sure. You don't want to
spend a few hours on the next part only to find that you missed
something vital.
Pso’Xja Tower #4

Observant adventurers may notice that all the Pso’Xja towers
are different. The one you farmed chips in had opening and shutting
doors.
Diabolos’s had those colored zone walls. The Promyvion – Vazhl one, if
you
don’t just go right in, has a bunch of holes you fall down until you
reach a
stair that leads you back up. This time, the tower (the one closest to
Fei’Yin at J-8)
isn’t a maze at all. But you’ll wish it was.

This Pso’Xja tower has a bunch of stone doors. When you
check it, a golem NM named Gargoyle spawns. It isn’t too hard, and it
will
never Meltdown, but it takes a while to kill. Once you defeat the
Gargoyle, the
stone door opens for a brief time. About 10 seconds. Everyone in the
party MUST
get through in time. DO NOT ATTEMPT
TO OPEN THE STONE DOOR FROM THE OTHER SIDE!
If you do, you will be teleported entirely out of the Pso’Xja tower,
and then
you’re totally screwed. This is experience talking here. Should someone
fail to
make it through a door, as long as they’re not a mage, have them
trigger the
trap again, die, and get tractored through the door and raised.
There are sixteen of these stupid doors, and it gets old
quickly. The doors are split up into four sets of four each. The first
set of
four has no mobs. The second set has Thousand Eyes and Cryptonberry
mobs in the
rooms. The third set has Magic Millstones (pots) and if the weather is
blizarding (as it usually is) a Snoll enemy. The fourth set has
Cryptonberries. They can aggro right through the doors, especially the
pots, so
kill anything that will aggro in your room or the next before spawning
the NM.
After each set of four doors you are in a safe area where you can rest
as long
as you want. Keep in mind that Pso’Xja mobs respawn quickly, so rest
when you
need to but keep going through each set to avoid mobs spawning behind
you.
Because of the close quarters with enemies in these small rooms, wiping
in this dungeon almost always means a trip to your home point, even if
the WHM has reraise up. There are lots of magic-aggro pots to detect
raises, and a Cryptonberry can easily cut down a few weakened
characters.
A THF can use skeleton keys on the doors to avoid the trap. It isn't
cheap to buy that many keys, but if you have someone that can come as a
THF its well worth it in terms of time saved and general hassle. Keep
in mind that any normal enemies will need to be killed and the key can
fail and trigger the trap anyway on occasion, so you'll still need a
solid party to beat this.
On one occasion, the trap on the door was “broken” and it
opened with no Gargoyle fight. I believe the trap is based on the
characters INT, so if you have a BLM in your party, get him to try to
open the doors if you lack a THF. Just be ready to provoke the Gargole
off him when he fails.
Once you get through the 16th door, sneak up and
head down the elevator. Sound-aggro Diremite Assaulters are down there.
Check
the avatar gate for a cutscene.

The Secret Lab
Remember that secret lab in the opening cutscene
of Chains
of Promathia? I totally forgot about that place myself. Turns out the
programmers didn’t. Change to your highest level jobs and get your good
gear, then head to Lower Delkfutt’s
Tower and go to the Cermet Gate at (H-5)
on the first level. It’s not the one that leads down to the basement,
but rather one a bit farther in but still on the first level.

Touch this gate to spawn, yeah, you might have guessed it, a
NM named Disaster Idol. A strategy guide online said “this NM isn’t to
be taken lightly,”
but meh.
We took it lightly. The element of the magic it casts is based on the
day. So on firesday it casts fire magic. I hear it's a total pushover
on lightsday. Check the
Gate after battle for a fairly lengthy cutscene that
explains
quite a bit. Then go dust off your artifact armor.

Pso’Xja Tower #5
Level cap 60! Finally! Don’t get too used to it
though.
There is a BC on Ulma's that is level cap 50 still. But once you get
that
done you’ll be able to ditch a fair amount of your lame gear and rely
on your AF
that you’ve had in storage for a while now. Cash in those claim slips
and put
on the old armor. Oh, and grab a stack of oils and powers or two.
This Pso’Xja tower is the one closest to Batallia Downs at (H-10), and
yeah, it’s 60 cap.

Zone in to correct tower
|

The goal here is to make it to the elevator in the very
middle of this vertical maze of a tower. There are sneak-aggro (eyes),
sight-aggro (goblins) and magic-aggro (pots) mobs
all over the place, but if you’re using oils and powers it is not too
hard to
avoid detection. Just make sure your leader doesn’t get too far ahead
while
you’re using your meds. Trying to fight through the entire tower
without sneak and invisible would take a very long time and probably
end up getting your party destroyed. If you want, you can try to solo
this area since there are no mandatory fights. Just watch out for aggro
since no one will be coming in here to raise you.
Many of the doors are one-way and there are several holes to
fall down. Our party went in circles a few times, and ended up fighting
a few
times, but in the end we made it to the elevator. Make sure sneak is on
because
once again there are diremites at the bottom. Do those things naturally
make
their habitats at the bottom of elevators? The world may never know.
Once off
the elevator check the gate, and then you can warp out to finish this
leg of the mission in Bastok.
Fast-route directions:
- Follow the right wall until you find yourself entering a room
from the south, facing north.
- Take the west exit from this room and drop down the hole.
- Proceed south to quickly reach the elevator.
