Brief synopsis:
Defeat three NMs in three outdoor areas of CoP

It’s everyone’s favorite part of CoP… uncapped NMs! This time around isn’t so bad really. Once you’re on 7-4 you can just travel from one location to the other, beating the NMs and getting the cutscenes. Be warned though. The uncapped NMs are getting harder. Don’t expect to just breeze through these without any effort.

After getting the cutscene with Cid at the end of mission 7-3, you must wait until the next game day (not real-life day, so less than an hour) to talk to him again and get the first cutscene in mission 7-4.

Off to kill some NMs!

Bibiki Bah

Order doesn’t matter here, but our party went to Bibiki Bay first. Thankfully the ??? spot isn’t on Purgonorgo Isle, but instead in a cave in the very northwest of your map at (F-6). Buff up and hit the ??? to spawn a NM sea monk.

This thing is awkwardly big and fills the entire cave. He doesn’t have too many moves but like most sea monks attacks very quickly. It can use the Hundred Fists when he got low on life. Keep flashing him as long as you can, and pound him hard. Then check the ??? for the cutscene you need here.

Tonberries in the Mist

Carpenter’s Landing next, for no apparent reason. The entrance you want is on the far east side of Jugner Forest, and the ??? is at (I-9) on the edge of the water northwest of the docks area.

Hit the ??? to spawn a tonberry.

And then, awkwardly, three more spawn about ten seconds later.

This will prove the most difficult battle in 7-4. The berries all have different jobs and their 2-hours.  Astral Flow is the really nasty one as anyone who has been into Dynamis knows, but here it isn't strong enough to totally destroy you. Try to sleep the berries, and kill them one by one. Once the first berry falls, the NIN will use his self-destruct 2-hour (though it doesn't kill him...) so you might want to drag him away from the party when this is about to happen. This can also be avoided by killing the NIN berry first. Any party that beat 6-4 should be able to defeat these tonberries without trouble, but feel free to use a 2-hour of your own if things get dicey. Then check the ??? again for your second cutscene.

It’s My Ring Now!

Misareaux Coast has the final NM in this section. This time you need to check a Storage Compartment in the shed at (E-7) near the way into Cape Riverne. Be warned that high-level fomors spawn near here, so if you’ve been killing fomors since you last cleared hate for Sacrarium, you’ll probably not want to fight this NM at night.

This buggard didn’t have any notable moves at all, but it’s almost totally immune to physical hits. Our PLD and RNG were doing like 30 damage to it, and Astral Flow from our SMN did less than 70 with an avatar 2-hour. Thankfully, if you’ve made it this far into CoP, you almost certainly know a BLM and/or RDM. Magic chews this thing up. So the only trick is keeping the mages alive, which wasn’t much of a trick at all, since this NM was pretty easy.

Check the Storage Compartment again for a cutscene and key item.
