Brief synopsis:
|
Return to all
three early promyvions in one quest,
then confront some old foes in the coolest battleground in the game
|
For many months now I have wandered the world of
Vana’diel,
grinning to myself in my knowledge that I was one of the first NA
players to
complete CoP. And yet, there was a disturbance on the edge of my mind.
Battles
against Bahamut and Diablos. Limbus. Questions left unanswered by the
missions
and new problems rising. Where was Square-Enix going with all this? Was
it just
something to mildly entertain people like me, perhaps an introduction
into the
new expansion, or were my hopes confirmed; was there indeed going to be
more CoP
content past Promathia’s defeat?
An update put it all to rest. Two new quests
that tie
together the completion of both the Rise of the Zilart and the Chains
of
Promathia plotline were released. And, at the end, with both quests
complete new
questions
arise and the mission logs give a new mission – The Final Verse.
Something is
brewing indeed. And so Erecia set off to uncover the truth.
A Challenge for the Mightiest
The quest Shadows of the Departed, your first step
along this
final path, has to be, by far, the quest with the most demanding
prerequisites
in the game. In order to activate it you need to have done the
following:
- Completed the Rise of the Zilart missions with the
battle
against Eald’narche.
- Seen a cutscene in Norg and one in Lower
Jeuno after beating ZM17
- Completed all of the Chains of Promathia missions
with the
fall of Promathia
- Seen all the cutscenes after Promathia’s fall
- Beaten the first fight against Bahamut, “Storms of
Fate”,
and completed the quest in Jeuno
- Waited at least until the next conquest tally
after
completed the “Storms of Fate” quest.
So basically, beat ZM17, Bahamut, see a bunch of
cutscenes,
and made sure at least one conquest tally has gone by after the Bahamut
fight.
If you’re an adventurer that is driven by conquest and glory, you might
already
have completed all the prereqs. If you didn’t do ZM17 and Bahamut
because there
“was no point” to these quests, well, head on over to the Celestial
Nexus and
Riverne B and get ‘er done.
Once you have all that, head on up to Ru’Lude
gardens for
your latest assignment. If all goes well, when you approach the palace
you’ll
be given an automatic cutscene.

You will be given the key item “Note from
Esha'ntarl”.
Checking it reveals the following:
Holla J-10
Dem K-4
Mea K-6
Oh no…
they can’t be talking about… promyvion?!?!
Noooo…
Ancient Flames Beakon, Once More
The circle is now complete. This began in Promyvion. It will
end in Promyvion. Well, actually, it began in Lower
Delkfutt's Tower and ends in Norg, but I don’t remember
asking for
sass. Anyway, your worst fears are confirmed: you need to return to the
level
30-capped promyvions.

You don’t need to actually fight any BCNMs though. As you
probably guessed, the letters and numbers on Esha'ntarl’s note are
position
locations. At each one of those positions is a Memory Flux. You may
remember
that these things did nothing on your first trip here and spawned
minibosses in
Promyvion – Vazhl. On this time around, you simply check them for a key
item.

Isn’t that the most useless chart I’ve ever made? You have
to go to all three promys, climb up to the fourth floor, and search out
the
Memory Flux at the position granted. I have nothing new to say about
promyvion
except that your life will be less painful if you bring and use reraise
earrings. Get to the top however you can. Get some friends to help, a
static for the next mission, bribe people with an ENM fight, escort a
group of newbies that STILL haven't completed Promyvion missions,
whatever.
Once
you’ve gotten all three, return to Ru’Lude
gardens for a cutscene and to end this quest. No reward, yet. Get some
sleep
because you can’t activate the next part until the next JP day (11 AM
EST).

Completes quest "Shadows of the Departed"
|
Apocalypse Nigh
Okay so that quest was sorta lame. This next one is a lot
more fun. I just said it, but I’ll say it again: you need to wait until
the
next JP day to get this quest. 11 AM EST. Once that’s passed, return to
Ru’Lude
gardens, then proceed onward for a few more cutscenes.

VERY COOL CUTSCENE
|
The dialogue sort of weirded me out during these cutscenes.
It seems like some of the thoughts and things I wrote on this guide
were being
said my NPC characters. Which brings up the creepy possibility: are SE
programmers reading my guide? Check the Radiance again to enter
the BC
fight.

Ahhh,
another glorious battle in the cool Empyreal
Paradox battleground. The identity of your opponents is sort
of a spoiler, but I
have a long history of not caring about preserving the identity of
spoiler
enemies on this guide, so here ya go: Kam’lanaut and Eald’narche. Yes,
the two Zilart
princes. Yes, you did kill them both. See the cutscenes for what’s
going on
here.
Chances are you just did ZM17 not too long before this fight
so you may remember Eald’narche floating around and teleporting and
stuff. In
this battle, he mainly spasm -aga III elemental magic. Aeroga III,
Thundaga
III, and so on. Seriously SPAM the stuff. Like, one right after
another. People
also say he has his petrify and terror AoE moves but I haven’t seen
them. As
for Kam’lanaut, he fights EXACTLY like he does in ZM8. If you don’t
remember
that far back, this means he mainly spams slowga and silencega, changes
his –enspell
often so that he is always absorbing one element, and tries to smite
people
with Light Blade.

Eald’narche is clearly the more annoying threat and also has
considerably less HP. This means someone gets the fun job of kiting
around Kam’lanaut
while you beat the snot out of his brother. If you’re going to use
2-hours, use
them on Eald to kill him quickly. Things like a quick skilchain, Mighty
Strikes
and Hundred Fists, and even a Chainspell Stun will help you deal with
him
quickly. If you’ve defeated Eald, unless your party is mostly dead or
something, you’ve basically won. Kam has a lot more HP and Light Blade
can be
damaging, but it’s nothing your party shouldn’t’ be able to deal with
one on
six.
This is a good battle because basically any balanced party
can win here. Grab a few damage dealers, a healer, a tank, someone that
can
kite, and call it good.

Strategy tips:
- Focus all efforts on defeating Eald’narche first and quickly.
Use sleep potions/opo-opo necklaces, icarus wings, and any 2-hours you
have to destroy
him as fast as possible.
- Kite Kam’lanaut while the rest of the party focuses on
Eald’narche.
- Stun Eald’narche as much as you can to interrupt his very
powerful AoE magic spells.
- Keep poison potions up until Eald falls to prevent his
sleepga.
- Once Eald’narche falls, focus on Kam’lanaut, who is less
damaging. Fight defensively if necessary to recover your hp and mp.
- Kam’s slowga must be erased. Haste will not overwrite it.
- Anyone with spells should have a number of echo drops on
them to fight Silencega. 6 is a good number.
- Keep softer characters out of range to minimize Kam’s Great
Wheel move.
It’s an exciting and flashy battle. Once both fall, you’re
done with the fighting, for now. Two more cutscenes await you, one of
which
requires YET ANOTHER annoying JP midnight to pass.

AGAIN!

But really, it’s actually worth it this time. Bahamut, ZM17,
a trip into Promyvion, and another BC? You better be getting something
out of
this one, right? You do. Check out the
gallery for your choice of
rewards. You
can only pick one though.
After this final cutscene from Gilgamesh both
your Zilart
and Chains of Promathia mission logs changes to a new mission – “The
Last Verse”.
No description whatsoever. And the events at Empyreal Paradox and Norg
show something
else is brewing. More to come? We shall see!
